India: Rainfall 35% lower than LPA in week ended 11 Aug 21

  • India received 40 millimetres rainfall during the week ended 11 Aug 21. This was 35% lower than the long period average (LPA).
  • Of 36 meteorological subdivisions, 10 received normal rainfall (up to 19% below or above LPA). Three subdivisions received excess rainfall (20-59% above LPA) and one subdivision received large excess rainfall (60% or more above LPA). Of the remaining, 12 subdivisions received deficient rainfall (20-59% below LPA), while large rainfall deficiency (60% or more below LPA) was seen in 10 subdivisions.
  • Cumulative rainfall during 1 Jun 21-11 Aug 21 amounted to 519.8 millimetres, 5.6% lower than the LPA.
