South Korean PM vows to push for structural reform in labor, pension and education

  • Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has pledged to enhance South Korea’s global competitiveness by persisting with structural reforms in labour, pension, and education.
  • He emphasized the need for these reforms to strengthen the country’s competitiveness in the face of economic challenges like global competition for technological dominance, supply chain restructuring, and changing demographics. The government has been working on these reforms since the Yoon Suk Yeol administration started last year.
  • Additionally, Han expressed the commitment to maintaining fiscal soundness, supporting exports, encouraging investment and technological innovation through regulatory reforms, and providing more social services for seniors, those with developmental disabilities, and multicultural families to create a safer and higher standard of living for all citizens.
