Malaysia: Malay rulers to elect new king on 24 Jan 19

• THE Conference of Rulers will elect the new Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and Deputy Yang Di-Pertuan Agong on 24 Jan 19.
• The king and deputy will then take their oath of office on 31 Jan 19, said a statement from the Keeper of the Ruler’s Seal Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.
• The statement was issued after the meeting of six rulers at Istana Negara to set a date for the election of a new king following Sultan Muhammad V’s abdication of the throne. The new king will be Malaysia’s 16th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong.
