  • The Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) has asked former Kaohsiung mayor Han Kuo-yu to become its vice chairman in a bid to unify opposition supporters ahead of the January elections.
  • KMT Chairman Eric Chu confirmed that they approached Han, who ran for the presidency in the previous election and also posted a call for unity among opposition candidates on social media.
  • The KMT aims to work with Han, as well as other opposition leaders, to form a unified front. New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi, the KMT’s presidential candidate, mentioned that Han was not seeking the position but willing to cooperate for the sake of Taiwan’s continuity.
