India: Rainfall 35.6% lower than LPA in week ended 18 Aug 21

• India received 39.5 millimetres rainfall during the week ended 18 Aug 21. This was 35.6% lower than the long period average (LPA).
• Of 36 meteorological subdivisions, seven received normal rainfall (up to 19% below or above LPA) and six subdivisions received excess rainfall (20-59% above LPA). Of the remaining subdivisions received deficient rainfall (20-59% below LPA), and 11 witnessed large rainfall deficiency (60% or more below LPA) during the week.
• One subdivision received no rainfall during the week ended 18 Aug 21.
• Cumulative rainfall during 1 Jun 21 – 18 Aug 21 amounted to 559.3 millimetres, 8.6% lower than the LPA.
